The Guardian confirms Liverpool are poised to make their second summer signing in the form of Spain striker Iago Aspas.

Aspas arrived at the Reds training ground at Melwood earlier today to undergo a medical, before completing a £7.7m move from Celta Vigo.

The 25-year-old (pictured) scored 12 goals to help keep Celta in La Liga, and cut short a holiday to the Caribbean once he became aware of Liverpool’s interest.

As reported on A Different League yesterday, Aspas was keen to complete the move as soon as possible, and he had rejected offers from Portuguese and Italian clubs to head for Liverpool.

Swansea City and Valencia were other clubs who had made offers to bring the attacker to their sides.

He will join Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini on the attacking strength next season at Anfield, as controversial striker Luis Suarez continues to try to engineer a move to Real Madrid.

Liverpool have also added Kolo Toure to their ranks, and continue negotiations to sign the 20-year-old central defender Tiago Ilori from Sporting Lisbon.
