The agent of Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has dismissed rumours that he is looking at a move away from Anfield.
In an interview on Tuesday in Slovakia, the centre back expressed his disapproval at losing his starting place at the club to Jamie Carragher in the second half of the last campaign, and was considering his future.
Arsenal have been the latest club mentioned to be weighing up make an offer for the 28-year-old, but Skrtel’s agent has told Italian media outlets that a move anywhere is unlikely, especially to Napoli.
As quoted by Goal.com, Karol Csonto said: “It’s not possible; I consider it a very difficult deal.
“I like Napoli and I have great respect for this club, but Martin still has a three-year contract with Liverpool and the most likely outcome is that he remains here.”
Skrtel (pictured) was widely linked to a move to either Barcelona or Manchester City last summer, before pledging his future to the Merseysiders.
However, he only started two Premier League matches from the end of January, and Rafa Benitez, who first brought him to Liverpool, has just taken over as Napoli boss.
Liverpool’s central defensive options look set to go through a complete overhaul this summer. Carragher has retired, with Skrtel facing an uncertain future and Danny Wilson has agreed a permanent move to Hearts.
