Bendtner's frustrating loan ends with injury

BBC Sport has confirmed Nicklas Bendtner has undergone an operation on a broken wrist which has completed his disappointing loan spell at Serie A champions Juventus from Arsenal.

The Dane joined the Italians from the Gunners in August, but only featured 11 times due to injury and Antonio Conte’s other striking options.  He failed to score for the club.

The 25-year-old (pictured) collected the injury as a second-half substitute in Juve’s final day defeat to Sampdoria last week.

However, they comfortably retained the title, ahead of Napoli and AC Milan.

Boss Conte said afterwards: “It’s a pity only for the 100th injury of Bendtner!  (He) has had an unlucky season.”

His late cameo at the weekend was his first appearance of 2013, after suffering a serious thigh injury in December.

During that period, he was banned from the international set-up for six months and fined nearly £100,000 after being caught drink driving in Copenhagen.

Bendtner will now return to Arsenal, but despite scoring 45 times for the Gunners, is unlikely to feature again for the club.

He won’t return to Juventus, who signed Nicolas Anelka in January, and have added Fernando Llorente on a pre-contract agreement from Athletic Bilbao.
