Paolo di Canio’s radical changes look set to continue at Sunderland, as Stephane Sessegnon and Lee Cattermole have been told they can leave, according to The Guardian.
Sessegnon had an indifferent campaign last season, and the 29-year-old’s erratic performances seem to have convinced the Wearsiders to sell the Benin playmaker.
There is interest from clubs in the Chinese Super League, and in France, where Sessegnon (pictured) played for Le Mans and PSG before moving to the Stadium of Light in January 2011.
Cattermole, who has a woeful disciplinary record, has attracted interest from newly promoted Cardiff City, while Steve Bruce is poised to make a move for one of his favourite players.
Cattermole worked under Bruce at both Wigan Athletic and Sunderland, and he wants to add to his defensive minded players. Maynor Figueroa has already joined Hull on a free transfer, and Curtis Davies has completed a move to the KC Stadium from Birmingham on Tuesday.
Sunderland have already released Titus Bramble, while Simon Mignolet is Liverpool-bound as he undergoes a medical on Merseyside today.
