Fulham reserve goalkeeper David Stockdale has said he is looking forward to a new campaign in west London, despite speculation continuing over his future.
Sky Sports reports the 27-year-old is happy to stay and fight for his place at the Cottagers, even with the arrival of the Holland international goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
Stekelenburg will succeed Mark Schwarzer as the certain No.1 in goal, after Schwarzer was released by the club late last week following a breakdown in contract talks.
However, Stockdale (pictured) is focusing on his Fulham challenge, despite being linked with a move to Hull City.
He told talkSPORT: “I’ve been trying to get back fit and getting ready for Fulham’s next campaign.
“I’m a Fulham player. This is the first year I’m not worried about my future because there’s not much going on. I’m just going to relax and enjoy my holiday, keep fit and prepare for another chapter at Fulham.”
Stockdale spent the majority of last campaign on loan at Hull, and his excellent performances helped the Tigers back into the top flight after a three-year absence.
Steve Bruce is known to want to sign the keeper on a permanent basis. Stockdale’s only regular run in the Fulham team came at the start of 2010/11, when Schwarzer was dropped for a few weeks whilst talk at the time intensified over a switch to Arsenal.
