After weeks of intense scrutiny over his future, Carlo Ancelotti has been confirmed by Real Madrid today as their new coach.
BBC Sport understands the experienced Italian has signed a three-year deal at the Bernabeu, and replaces Jose Mourinho who departed after a tempestuous three years for a second coming at Chelsea.
Ancelotti (pictured) led PSG to the French league title last season, and the last eight of the Champions League in their first crack at the top European prize since 2004-05.
His managerial CV is hugely impressive, having won all the major prizes available in Italy with AC Milan, including two UEFA Champions League triumphs in 2003 and 2007, along with Serie A in 2004.
He also won the coveted league and cup double in his first season with Chelsea in 2010, as they broke a host of Premier League records along the way.
Ancelotti’s replacement at PSG will be Frenchman Laurent Blanc. Blanc has won the World Cup as a player in 1998, and represented the likes of Montpellier and Barcelona in his club career.
The 47-year-old has been out of the game since resigning from the national post after France’s quarter-final exit at the hands of Spain at Euro 2012. He has signed a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes.
