After days of guessing and anticipation, the fixture list has been released on Wednesday for the 2013-14 Premier League season.

The official site of the league confirms defending champions Manchester United (trophy pictured) will begin life without Sir Alex Ferguson with an away game at Swansea City on August 17.

This is the standout fixture from the opening weekend.  Ferguson of course closed his Old Trafford career with a home game against the Swans in May.

Jose Mourinho’s second coming at Chelsea will begin with a home match against Hull City, whilst Manchester City, also under new management start with a meeting against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.

Crystal Palace have an attractive London derby to open up their top flight return with Tottenham, and Championship champions Cardiff begin their life in the Premier League away to West Ham.

Everton, now guided by Roberto Martinez, will be away at Norwich City, a place where they lost to a late goal back in February.

Two of the Premier League’s founder members clash at the Emirates as Arsenal tackle Aston Villa.  Stoke travel to Liverpool, Sunderland host Fulham and West Brom entertain Southampton in the other opening weekend fixtures.
