Another striker with Hernandez in his surname could be heading to these shores, as the agent of Abel Hernandez has told Italian sources that there is interest from English clubs.
Pablo Betancourt has suggested that Premier League units have shown interest, along with Serie A sides.
Hernandez (pictured) is currently preparing for the Confederations Cup with Uruguay, but the attacker’s future will come under more scrutiny when he returns from Brazil.
Betancourt told Italian source Calciomercato: “Abel has admirers in Italy, but also in England.
“I want to clarify the situation (though). I have tremendous respect for (Maurizio) Zamparini and he will decide the future of the boy.”
Zamparini is the Palermo president, which is Hernandez’s current club, but as Sky Sports reports he might have to sell his asset.
Palermo were relegated to Serie B last season, and it is unlikely that the 22-year-old will stay with the club.
Sunderland are keen on landing the striker, with north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham also keen longer-term admirers of the forward.
However Hernandez doesn’t have a proven track record of scoring goals. In fact, he only found the target once throughout the whole of the league campaign last term, as Palermo went down from the top flight with Siena and Pescara.
