The Daily Mirror confirms Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar has had negotiations about staying in England with another Premier League club.
The former Champions League winner with Inter Milan (pictured) left the San Siro last August for QPR, but their relegation to the Championship means his west London excursion is likely to be just a solitary season.
Arsenal have immediately been linked with making a move for Cesar. They are looking at a new goalkeeper, and have been strongly linked with the Brazil international, along with Sunderland’s Simon Mignolet and the German goalkeeper Rene Adler from Hamburg SV.
QPR would like to get Cesar off their extensive wage bill. He is believed to be on a £70,000-a-week contract at Loftus Road.
On the eve of Sunday’s international friendly with England, Cesar said: “I am in negotiations with other clubs in England and from other countries but there’s still not been anything definitive.
“I am concentrating on Brazil, I still have a deal with QPR, but I also know I have to prove that I should be in the squad for the World Cup in 2014.”
Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp is already planning for next season’s major squad rebuild, and he would like to add Richard Dunne to his plans.
The 33-year-old has had a miserable time in recent seasons with Aston Villa and is a free agent after failing to make a single appearance last season.
