Jackson Martinez on the Spurs attacking shortlist

Colombian striker Jackson Martinez has been targeted by Tottenham, as Andre Villas-Boas looks to splash the cash out on at least two extra frontmen for the club.

The Independent says the Portuguese manager wants to bring in more players, despite missing out on Champions League football again.

Injuries to Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor’s inconsistency during the last campaign have forced AVB into the market, and he has identified Martinez (pictured) as a viable option.

He finished top scorer in the Portuguese league with 26 goals, helping FC Porto edge out Benfica to another title.

Porto won’t be too keen to sell to their old boss, especially having just lost key assets James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho for £60m to mega rich AS Monaco.

Other options include Brazilian striker Hulk, who only joined Zenit last summer and long-term target Leandro Damiao.

However, interest in Christian Benteke seems to have ended, with Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal leading the race to sign the Belgian if he decides to leave Aston Villa.
