Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho has completed a move to Manchester City, after having a medical, BBC Sport has reported.

The playmaker was pictured in Manchester on Wednesday entering a local hospital to undergo his medical, confirming a switch to the Premier League from Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 28-year-old (pictured) featured against Chelsea last season in the Champions League group stages, and had a release clause of £42m in his contract.

It is understood a compromise of £30m was made between the two parties, allowing clearance for the move to take place.

Fernandinho has been capped five times by Brazil, but hasn’t figured in 2013.

Owner of the club Khaldoon Al Mubarak said last week: “Will there be new signings?  Absolutely, this is going to be a very important year for us.”

The club are looking to make amends for their unsuccessful summer acquisitions last summer, with the likes of Javi Garcia, Maicon and Scott Sinclair not making a significant contribution to City’s season.

Jesus Navas is on the verge of sealing a £17m move from Sevilla, with young prodigy Isco keen to link up with Manuel Pellegrini again, when the Chilean is finally confirmed as Roberto Mancini’s successor.
