Former Schalke 04 manager Ralf Rangnick has played down intense media speculation that had him down as a leading contender for the Everton job.
Sky Sports understands he is happy in his current role as general manager of the Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, and the German equivalent Red Bull Leipzig.
Last week, odds on him succeeding David Moyes at Goodison Park shortened dramatically. Outgoing Wigan manager Roberto Martinez is still believed to be the favourite to fill the post.
Rangnick (pictured) spoke to German sources and said: “I have been made aware of that (a potential move to Everton) and well, you should not take every one of those media reports for granted.
“I have had signed a deal for three years with my current employer and thus far have just been in my actual job for 12 months.”
The dual position he took up with the energy drink brand, more commonly known for their sponsorship of extreme sport and recent Formula One dominance, started last summer.
Rangnick’s last managerial role was with Schalke, and he guided them to the Champions League semi-finals, before stepping aside in September 2011 because of health concerns.
He has had mixed success coaching in the Bundesliga, with his two spells at Schalke 04 alongside five years at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, and shorter stints as manager of VfB Stuttgart and Hannover 96.
