Cisse expected to remain in Qatar

Qatar club Al-Gharafa are keen to keep Queens Park Rangers striker Djibril Cisse on a permanent basis, according to the Guardian.

The much-travelled striker, who once cost Liverpool £15m, spent the second half of last season on loan in the Middle East from QPR.

It is unlikely Cisse (pictured) will return to Loftus Road.  The 31-year-old has admitted in the past that he has no interest in playing in the second tier of English football.

The Frenchman currently has one year left on his current deal, and Harry Redknapp, who is keen to trim the club’s excessive wage bill, will be willing to listen to offers.

Cisse’s loan officially ends on 30 June.  He has also had spells in his career at Auxerre and Panathinaikos.

Meanwhile, QPR have released four players after relegation. Radek Cerny, Tal Ben-Haim, Rob Hulse and DJ Campbell will be looking for new clubs this summer.

Joey Barton is unlikely to return either from his loan spell from Marseille, whilst Bursaspor have an option to turn Anton Ferdinand’s loan into a permanent move.
