Bernabeu move interests Cavani

Edinson Cavani’s father, Luis, has indicated that his son is more interested in a move to Real Madrid rather than switch to the Premier League.

The Guardian reports the 26-year-old (pictured) has held talks with representatives from Madrid, despite not having a permanent coach appointed yet to succeed Jose Mourinho.

The Bernabeu outfit are desperate to fight back after a campaign without any major silverware, and have been strongly linked with Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale since the English domestic season finished.

Gonzalo Higuain is definitely going to be leaving, with fellow striker Karim Benzema also expected to depart in the summer.

Cavani’s father has been quoted as saying: “Cavani’s intention is to play for Madrid.  He is excited about it and is very willing to see it through.

“He has told the family in private that he wants to join Real Madrid but if he declares it publicly it will annoy Napoli.”

Cavani is currently in Brazil getting ready for the Confederations Cup with Uruguay.  He was top goalscorer last season in Serie A with 29 goals, and Napoli reportedly want a £55m fee.

Chelsea and Manchester City are both keen to sign Cavani, although the Blues might be looking at a cheaper alternative after agreeing an £18m fee with Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday for the German international Andre Schurrle.
