After securing an impressive top 10 finish on their return to the Premier League, West Ham United and Sam Allardyce have identified Belgian hotshot Romelu Lukaku as a target to improve their squad next season, according to the Daily Mail.

Lukaku (pictured) has had a magnificent campaign on-loan at West Brom from Chelsea, and completed his temporary spell at the Hawthorns with a stunning second-half hat-trick in Albion’s extraordinary 5-5 draw with Manchester United last weekend.

The 20-year-old scored 17 goals this season in the Midlands, and manager Steve Clarke has made no secret of his desire to keep Lukaku, who is expected to return to Chelsea.

However, the Blues have also insisted no decision on Lukaku’s future will be made until a successor to interim manager Rafa Benitez is found.

With Carlton Cole leaving and Andy Carroll's future in the balance, Allardyce believes Lukaku would be an ideal alternative to lead the Hammers attack.
