Wenger in advanced talks with Jovetic

Arsenal are in advanced negotiations with Fiorentina to sign the Montenegro attacker Stevan Jovetic, Goal.com understands.

The 23-year-old (pictured) has actually had a mediocre season in Serie A, scoring just 12 league goals in an outfit that has found the net 65 times in the campaign.

However, his previous goalscoring record is impressive, both at club and international level and Arsene Wenger sees Jovetic as a natural fit into his future plans.

The public stance from Florence is Fiorentina would like around £30m for their prized asset, but Arsenal seem to be confident of agreeing a fee for around £23m.

Wenger is unconvinced by Lukas Podolski’s ability to get goals on a regular basis, and with Theo Walcott set to remain as a winger or emergency striker, attention has switched towards Jovetic with Edin Dzeko and Robert Lewandowski also on their wanted list.

The north Londoners have also been linked with Loic Remy of QPR, as he has a relegation clause in his contract but they have higher targets lined up.
