The Guardian reports Barcelona have earmarked Pepe Reina as a summer target to replace Victor Valdes, should he decide to leave the Catalans.

Valdes has been the Barcelona number one for a decade, but has already indicated that he has no intention on extending his current contract, which has one year left to run.

He may leave this summer if the La Liga champions-elect decide to cash in on his services, and the club have made an enquiry about Reina’s availability.

The regular Spanish number two (pictured) began his career at the Nou Camp, but has three years left on his contract at Liverpool.

He recently stated he expects to be at Anfield next season despite the likelihood of no European football for the second time in the last three campaigns.

Reports in Spain over the weekend claimed a fee had already been discussed and Reina agreed the move in principle, but these seem to be wide of the mark.

The 30-year-old has made 393 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions since arriving on these shores from Villarreal in 2005.
