Lyon look at temporary deal for Gervinho

Arsenal winger Gervinho is a target for French heavyweights Lyon, says Metro, but only on a temporary basis.

The Ivorian (pictured) has not had a spectacular time at the Gunners since the north Londoners splashed out £10.8m for him from Lille in 2011.

Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are both admirers of the player, who often plays on the wing of a standard 4-3-3 formation.

However Lyon, who secured a shot at returning to the Champions League after a season away last weekend, have enquired about the availability of the 25-year-old.

With Lyon’s tight financial situation though, boss Remi Garde, who was one of Arsene Wenger’s first Arsenal signings back in 1996, can only afford to take the attacking midfielder on a loan deal.

Contracted at the Emirates Stadium until 2015, Gervinho’s time with the Gunners has been punctured by inconsistent form, injuries and regular trips away with his national side after Christmas for the African Cup of Nations.

Nevertheless, he has still found the target nine times in nearly 50 league appearances for Arsenal.
