Liverpool have completed their first business of the summer transfer window, bringing Kolo Toure to Anfield.

The club’s official website has confirmed an agreement has been reached between the player and the Merseysiders.

He will officially be registered by Liverpool on July 1 when his current contract expires with Manchester City.

The 32-year-old (pictured) will be seen as a natural replacement for club legend Jamie Carragher, and his experience will aid the club’s youngsters.

In fact, his arrival is a rare change in style by Brendan Rodgers and the Fenway Sport Group owners, who have only insisted on bringing fresh, young players to Liverpool over the past two years.

The Ivorian has accumulated 105 international caps for his country, and finished runner-up twice in the African Cup of Nations.

At club level, Toure has won 11 honours, including the league title in England with City, and as part of the Arsenal ‘Invincible’ squad in 2004.

He becomes the eighth player signed by Rodgers since he took the hotseat almost a year ago.
