Sky Sports reports Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Robin van Persie head the nominations for the PFA Players' Player of the Year.

The pair have been joined on the six-man list (all pictured) by Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, the Chelsea pairing of Eden Hazard and Juan Mata and Michael Carrick from Manchester United.

Uruguayan striker Suarez has starred for his Liverpool team, and currently leads the Premier League goalscoring charts with 22 goals.

Van Persie won the award for Arsenal last season, but his switch in the summer to Old Trafford has seen no let up in his goalscoring tally.

Van Persie’s recent two goals away at Stoke and West Ham not only ended a two-month goalscoring drought, but took him to 21 strikes in the Premier League.

Carrick has been a regular in the Red Devils midfield, whilst 2011 winner Bale has bagged 17 goals in Tottenham’s push for Champions League qualification.

Mata and Hazard have been the leading lights in a dramatic Chelsea season, with the pair scoring plenty of goals and sharing assists throughout the campaign.

The winner will be announced at a London gala dinner on 28 April.
