Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna has been linked with a return to France, reports the Daily Mail.
The Frenchman began his career with Auxerre, and he could be on his way back to his native homeland, as contract talks stall at the Emirates Stadium.
Financially-backed AS Monaco are the side who are interested in snapping the 30-year-old up. Sagna has also received interest from Russian and Italian clubs.
Sagna (pictured) is Arsenal’s longest-serving player and has made 174 league appearances since first arriving in north London back in July 2007.
He has scored three times for the Gunners and was voted in the PFA Team of the Year in 2008 and 2011.
Arsene Wenger’s policy of offering one-year extensions to players over 30 might hit a stumbling block, with Sagna keen on a longer deal.
Monaco are four points clear at the top of Ligue 2, and have been taken over by the Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev.
Arsenal have been scouting Aston Villa’s Matt Lowton and Sebastien Corchia of Sochaux as possible replacements for Sagna.
