It has been another memorable week in the management career of Sir Alex Ferguson, and it has been crowned by being confirmed as the UK’s richest football manager.
Metro confirms the feisty Scot (pictured), who secured a 20th league championship for Manchester United on Monday night, has a personal fortune of £34m.
This list is released as part of the annual Sport Rich List which is undertaken by the Sunday Times.
In equal second place is Ferguson’s opposition manager at the weekend, Arsene Wenger, and ITV pundit Roy Keane at £29m per year.
Keane has been out of management for the past two years since he departed Ipswich Town in 2011.
The top five is completed by Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni and the outgoing Premier League title winning manager Roberto Mancini. Both boast a fortune of £21m.
Despite being sacked by their clubs this season, both Martin O’Neill and Mark Hughes have made the top 12, as has the current England boss Roy Hodgson, who has a personal wealth of £12m.
