The FA has written to FIFA and concluded they have found no evidence of racism by England supporters in San Marino.
Reports had claimed the Ferdinand brothers, Rio and Anton, had been targets of abuse from supporters (pictured) during the World Cup qualifier in March, which England won 8-0.
FIFA had received an official complaint from the Football Against Racism in Europe group over the chanting.
However as the Guardian has reported, England’s club managing director Adrian Bevington said no offenders had been identified through video evidence.
He admitted: “We have gone through all of the video evidence that our security team recorded on the evening of the game.
“I do want to make clear that, while the journalists who have reported this have done so in good faith, they clearly have heard some chanting of a particular nature and we’re not disputing that, but we haven’t been able to identify any of that from the recorded evidence that we’ve gone through.”
Rio Ferdinand had been recalled to the England squad by Roy Hodgson for the latest World Cup qualifiers, but withdrew a week before the trips to San Marino and Montenegro.
He then flew out to Qatar to work as a pundit on the San Marino match for Al-Jazeera, angering many Three Lions fans.
