Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg will make his first return to Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge since the racism storm earlier in the season, says BBC Sport.
Clattenburg has been appointed to the Chelsea v Swansea City match on Sunday, his first involvement in a Blues game in west London since being accused and eventually cleared of racially abusing Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel.
The allegation against the 38-year-old was made after Chelsea’s 3-2 home defeat to Manchester United on 28 October.
Clattenburg sent off Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres, and booked Mikel after a lengthy exchange of words.
Chelsea launched a complaint against Clattenburg (pictured with Mikel) of using inappropriate language towards their midfielder, leading to investigations by both the FA and the police.
The Durham-born ref missed four weeks of Premier League action whilst the investigations took place but was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Mikel was fined £60,000 and given a three-match ban in December for threatening the referee at full-time.
The current Champions League holders later stated they would welcome Clattenburg back to the Bridge in the future.
