The Daily Mirror reports Liverpool are ready to take their rising talent Raheem Sterling out of the first team limelight at Anfield.
Manager Brendan Rodgers is considering moving the 18-year-old prodigy (pictured) into the FA Youth Cup squad for an upcoming semi-final against Chelsea.
He seems satisfied to also allow the winger to go to the Under-21 European Championships in Israel should he be selected by Stuart Pearce.
Rodgers though did rule out a loan move for Sterling due to the lack of depth in the Merseyside side.
He commented: “I spoke to Stuart Pearce because we have a number of England U21 boys here, and I don’t think it would do Raheem any harm to go.
“He’s had a good season here up to now and going to a tournament like that if he was selected will be good for his experience.”
On the loan possibility, Rodgers added: “I’ve had a number of calls from teams looking to take him on loan, but our squad is thin enough as it is, and he won’t be doing that.
“We just have to ensure as a club we don’t make any mistakes with his development.”
The January arrivals of both Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho have limited opportunities for Liverpool’s youngsters to make an impact in the second half of the campaign.
Sterling signed a contract extension at Anfield back in December, and has netted against both Reading and Sunderland in the 25 Premier League games he has featured for the club so far in his promising career.
He also won senior international recognition from Roy Hodgson, winning his first cap in November’s friendly with Sweden.
