Red Devils start talks for Schlupp services

Ghanaian international Jeffrey Schlupp (pictured) could well be the latest youngster on his way to Manchester United, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Premier League leaders are about to start negotiations with Championship side Leicester City for the 20-year-old, who was invited for a trial back in January.

He has played in United’s last two under-21 matches, and is highly recommended by the youth staff at the Theatre of Dreams.

Foxes manager Nigel Pearson said: “I think we’ll be discussing this week what the next step is.

“He’s done well at United.  He’s played the last two games that he can play there so clearly it’s going to have some effect this week.”

The Hamburg-born attacker has already made 27 league appearances in the Midlands, winning the Academy Player of the Year award in 2011, and had a fruitful loan spell at Brentford two years ago, scoring six times in 10 appearances for the west Londoners.

He can be recalled at any time by Pearson as he looks to reignite Leicester’s stalling promotion challenge from the Championship.

This could mean he actually figure for them in tonight’s fixture against Leeds United.

Any deal done with the Red Devils would mean he couldn’t figure again until next season, as it is outside the permanent transfer window.
