England’s number one goalkeeper Joe Hart has told a press conference on the FA’s official website of his hopes of a quiet evening on Friday.
Roy Hodgson’s men sit second in Group H with eight points from four matches ahead of the game against perennial European minnows San Marino.
San Marino have not scored a single goal in nine years, and put up little resistance at Wembley in October, when England cruised to a 5-0 victory without getting into top gear.
The Manchester City goalkeeper (pictured) is hoping for a repeat performance before next week’s more testing assignment in Podgorica against group leaders Montenegro.
Hart said: “I’ve had a quick check and they still haven’t scored against anybody for a while, so if someone is going to concede against them, I hope it isn’t me.
"But the aim of the game is to win and if they score, the aim is still to score more than them.”
The 6ft 3in goalkeeper is also impressed by the competition for his jersey in the international setup.
West Brom’s Ben Foster has ended his two-year international exile and is back in the squad, alongside Hart and Celtic youngster Fraser Forster.
Crocked Norwich stopper John Ruddy and youngster Jack Butland complete an impressive quintet of talent.
Hart admitted: “It’s great to see Ben (Foster), he’s a consistent performer and I’ve worked with him in training and against him before.
“It’s good to have players like that and we have some top quality keepers now with Jack, Fraser and John Ruddy.”
Hart has won 28 England caps since becoming regular first choice in 2010.
