Southampton have been charged by the FA for failing to control their players over a controversial penalty award to opponents Norwich in Saturday’s stalemate at Carrow Road.
The home side were handed a great chance to win the match in the closing moments, when Mark Clattenburg judged young left-back Luke Shaw to have pushed Grant Holt just inside the penalty area.
As reported by the Independent, Saints players were less than impressed with the decision, with several players remonstrating furiously with Clattenburg in the aftermath (pictured).
Goalkeeper Artur Boruc went on to save the spot-kick from Holt to ensure Mauricio Pochettino’s men left East Anglia with a crucial point in their fight to beat the Premier League drop.
The south coast side have until 4pm on Friday to respond to the charge.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway and winger Wilfried Zaha have also been charged for separate incidents during Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Leeds in the Championship.
Like Southampton, the pair has until 4pm on Friday to respond to their charges.
