Cassano linked with Liverpool switch

Liverpool have been linked with making a swoop for Italian striker Antonio Cassano.

According to Metro, a move for the Inter Milan forward will only occur if Luis Suarez is sold to Bayern Munich.

Suarez currently leads the Premier League goalscorers chart following his weekend treble at Wigan, taking his tally to 28 in all competitions this season.

The Uruguayan is high on Pep Guardiola’s shopping list, as he assesses possible transfer targets before taking over at the Bundesliga leaders in the summer.

Cassano (pictured) has represented Italy 35 times, and graced AS Roma, Sampdoria and AC Milan in his club career.

He underwent minor heart surgery in November 2011 which put his football career in jeopardy.

After returning to the Milan setup in April 2012, he was sold to city rivals Inter in the summer in an exchange deal with Giampaolo Pazzini.

He has scored five times this season in Serie A, but wasn’t involved in Inter’s 3-2 win over Catania at the weekend after a reported training ground altercation.
