Twente fans want McClaren out

FC Twente fans have shown their frustration at Steve McClaren’s negative tactics, and want him (pictured) to leave the club, according to the Daily Mail.

The Dutch title challengers have slipped six points behind league leaders PSV Eindhoven, and haven’t won a match in the Eredivisie since before Christmas.

This follows a dismal UEFA Europa League campaign, which saw the club finish bottom of Group L with no wins and just four points, below Hannover 96, Levante and Swedish minnows Helsinborgs.

After a disappointing draw against Zwolle, fans targeted the team bus as they have grown fed up of their lack of ability to find the back of the net.

Banners have been held aloft, with one recently saying “Steve go home.”

Goals have been a problem since last season’s top scorer Luuk de Jong was sold to Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.

McClaren is in his second spell with the Dutch side following his trying reign in charge of the England national team and a brief time with VFL Wolfsburg in Germany.
