Swansea City’s ambitious chairman Huw Jenkins believes that he can agree a new deal for his in demand manager Michael Laudrup, understands Eurosport.
The Swans returned to Wales on Tuesday with a bus parade around the city centre following their Capital One Cup success at the weekend.
The Welsh side recorded the biggest ever League Cup final victory against Bradford City. The 5-0 triumph not only was their first major trophy in their history, but also guarantees UEFA Europa League football for next season.
Laudrup (pictured with the Capital One Cup trophy) has promoted an attractive brand of football throughout the campaign at the Liberty Stadium, guiding the club comfortably into the top half with victories away at Arsenal and Newcastle among the highlights.
This has alerted the attention of the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid, but Jenkins believes the former Spartak Moscow and Real Mallorca boss will stay.
Jenkins said: “Personally I have no issue about the thought of him not being here next season, I think he will be here and he’s stated he would honour his contract.
“Michael has stated before he wants to be here next season. If you look at his career before he came here, he needed to find the right club and stability in himself as a manager.
"We felt before he joined this was the right place for that, which has proved to be the case.”
Laudrup’s current deal expires at the end of 2014. He scored 130 league goals in a glittering playing career which included spells at Barcelona, Real Madrid, Lazio and Ajax.
