QPR's Remy set for spell on treatment table

Queens Park Rangers’ January spending gamble has already taken a hit with the news that Loic Remy will be out of action for a few weeks.

Sky Sports reports the French international has damaged his groin in training which meant he missed Saturday’s goalless draw at home to Norwich.

Remy (pictured) cost the Hoops £8m from Marseille in mid-January, and scored 20 minutes into his debut in the 1-1 draw with West Ham United.  However he suffered the injury in training on Thursday.

Manager Harry Redknapp will know the full extent of the problem later in the week, although it is believed to be a strain rather than a tear.

Redknapp said after the stalemate at Loftus Road on Saturday: “It was in the last minute of training, and he just struck a ball and felt it go.

“We will have to see how he is on Sunday and Monday, and then take it from there.”

Depending on the absence Remy faces, it is a massive blow for QPR, as results went against them over the weekend, leaving them six points adrift of safety.

Redknapp missed out on signing Peter Odemwingie on deadline day, but still has Jamie Mackie and Bobby Zamora available for selection.

Their next match is a trip to Swansea on Saturday.
