West Brom fans gave Peter Odemwingie a hostile reception on his return to the Albion first team on Saturday.
The Daily Mail leads with this story, as the Nigerian returned to the fold as a late substitute in the side’s 2-1 home victory over Sunderland.
Manager Steve Clarke brought him on in the 87th minute for goalscoring hero Romelu Lukaku, who had netted both of the Baggies strikes against the Black Cats.
The cheers for Lukaku turned into boos for Odemwingie (pictured) following his rants about the club on Twitter before his desperate transfer deadline day actions in trying to force through a move to QPR.
When asked about the response of the fans to Odemwingie’s return, a pensive Clarke said: “I never noticed it as I was too nervous about throwing away a two-goal lead.
“The Odemwingie thing meant I could never affect what the supporters are going to do. He’s part of my squad and we’re going to use him.
"He was always going to come back in at some stage. For me it’s finished, the incident happened but that seems like a long time ago now."
Odemwingie was fined two weeks wages for his January actions by the club.
He wasn’t considered for Albion’s last two matches in an effort to calm down the storm that was brewing around the Hawthorns.
Saturday’s victory takes West Brom to the magical 40 point mark, as they look to press on for a shock European challenge until the end of the season.
