Fulham wrap up Emanuelson swoop

It was an active day in the transfer market at Craven Cottage and Goal.com reported Fulham’s first completed capture of the day.

They have signed 26-year-old Dutchman Urby Emanuelson on loan from AC Milan until the end of the season.

Emanuelson (pictured) worked under current Cottagers boss Martin Jol at Ajax, and has been capped 16 times by Holland.

He has been used in a rotational role at Milan this season, making 20 appearances but recently struggling to figure in the plans of Massimo Allegri.

He will add to competition on the wide flanks at Fulham, with his best position being left midfield.

However he could be used as a left back too, which is where he started his positional career in Holland with Ajax.

A statement on the Londoners website read: “Fulham Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Urby Emanuelson until the end of the 2012-13 season.”

Emanuelson joined Emmanuel Frimpong at the club in this transfer window, and Jol was able to strengthen further later in the day.

He used his contacts in Holland to bring in Bulgarian right back Stanislav Manolev on loan from PSV Eindhoven, with an option to buy in the summer.

The final capture was also from Holland, as Eyong Enoh arrived from Ajax on loan, again with a view to a permanent move to west London in the summer.

A potential deal for Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone fell through, while attempts to add an extra goalkeeper failed.

Stoke City won the race for rising goalkeeper Jack Butland, and efforts to sign AS Roma's Maarten Stekelenburg failed when the Serie A side told him to turnaround and return to Rome from Heathrow as they couldn't find an adequate replacement.
