Sam Allardyce is on the verge of completing the capture of goalkeeper Paul Robinson from Blackburn Rovers, reports the Daily Mail.
The 33-year-old was first choice when Allardyce was in charge at Blackburn from December 2008 – December 2010.
Having lost his first team place to youngster Jake Kean earlier this season, the former England international (pictured) is set to trim the wage bill at Ewood Park by making the move to east London.
Current Hammers reserve Stephen Henderson will go to Lancashire in exchange for the deal to go through.
Allardyce was keen on signing Robinson in the summer when it became clear that Robert Green would leave the club, but he opted for the free option of Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Now if he adds the ex-Leeds and Tottenham goalkeeper to his ranks at Upton Park, he might have the best combination of goalkeeping quality in the Premier League.
Robinson won 41 caps for England between 2003 and 2007, and has played 161 times for Blackburn since moving from Tottenham in 2008.
