Laudrup confident of keeping Michu at Swansea

Spanish superstar Michu might be attracting some attention from top European clubs, but Football365.com reports that Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup is very confident of holding onto his star striker.

Signed for £2m, the 26-year-old (pictured) has scored an impressive 16 goals in all competitions since joining the Welsh club in the summer from Rayo Vallecano.  And despite reported interest from wealthy Russian clubs Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St Petersburg, Laudrup believes that Michu's price tag would scare off any interest in his services, at least in this transfer window.

Laudrup said: "We all know the economic situation in the world, so there really aren't that many clubs who can buy him.

"Michu likes it here.  He's happy where he is.  So I'm really not afraid because I'm so sure he will stay with us for the next five or six months."

The forward's stock continues to rise in the English game, scoring on Sunday within a minute of his arrival from the bench in the 2-2 FA Cup third round draw with Arsenal.

He also scored both goals at the Emirates Stadium in December to beat the Gunners, and netted the first goal in the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea on Wednesday night, helping Swansea to their first victory at Stamford Bridge in 87 years.
