Home comforts for Keane as he trains with Tottenham

Former Tottenham hitman Robbie Keane is back at the club, but only for training purposes, reports ITV.

The 32-year-old (pictured), who spent part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, is preparing for the new MLS season with the LA Galaxy which starts in March. The Irish striker played an integral role in the Galaxy’s MLS Cup triumph in December, dominated by David Beckham’s final appearance as an LA player.

Keane has insisted though that he is not interested in a temporary playing move to his former side, as he needs to rest after a tiring year with the American outfit and with the Republic of Ireland during their doomed Euro 2012 campaign.

He said: “It’s been a long season, with the Euros and what have you. I’ve a few little niggles that need to be sorted out so I don’t think at this moment in time it would be right for me to go anywhere.”

Tottenham only have Jermain Defoe on their striking roster for now, as Emmanuel Adebayor has gone to play for Togo in the Africa Nations Cup.

Keane scored more than 90 league goals for Tottenham in 238 appearances during two separate spells, and has also represented Wolves, Coventry City, Leeds United, Inter Milan, Liverpool and Celtic in his career.
