Brazilian midfielder Ramires has come out in support for beleaguered interim boss Rafael Benitez at Chelsea, reports the Daily Mail.
The 25-year-old (pictured playing against Stoke last weekend), who has scored 10 times in 78 league appearances for Chelsea since arriving after the 2010 World Cup, has given his approval of the style of play Benitez is trying to incorporate at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues star said: “It’s a new style but we’re adapting well. He’s an excellent manager who knows a lot about football and watches every Premier League match and knows everything about all the other teams.
“He’s great tactically and always thinks every game through which is important for us if we’re going to do well and win titles.”
The former Valencia and Inter coach has had a difficult time in London so far, since succeeding the popular Roberto di Matteo in late November.
He is unpopular with most Chelsea supporters, but the club are still fighting in four competitions this season, and face struggling Southampton tonight, looking to end a poor run of back-to-back home defeats.
Beaten by Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League and Swansea in the Capital One Cup at home recently, the Blues will aim to end a shaky record on their home turf of late.
