Aguero convinced City will retain title

Sergio Aguero is convinced that Manchester City will retain the Premier League, despite trailing Manchester United by five points with over half the season gone.

ESPN reports that the Argentine goalscoring ace, who has netted eight times in 19 matches during an injury-hit campaign, believes the experience of last season will bode City well this time around.

Roberto Mancini’s side overturned an eight point deficit with just six games remaining to secure their first league title in 44 years, crowned by Aguero’s late heroics last May.

The 24-year-old (pictured) said: “We won the title off them last season and now we’re in the fight again. We can regain the leadership of the Premier League from them.

“City have everything to continue to grow and the best is yet to come.”

The Citizens cut United’s lead at the top last weekend to five points, following their 2-0 win over Fulham, and the Red Devils failure to defeat Tottenham at a snowy White Hart Lane on Sunday.

Aguero returned from a hamstring pull on New Year’s Day, and came off the bench in the Fulham match, as he looks to rediscover the form which saw him find the back of the net 23 times in the league last term.
