Book review: Wings of a Sparrow

Best-selling author and writer of the multi-award winning movie Green Street, Dougie Brimson has come up with this new comedy novel which is available to be downloaded as an e-book.
Brimson, who has written 15 books in his life and is a veteran of the Falklands war of 1982, has recently decided to make the move into digital book reading, rather than stick with the classic traditional publishing which is seriously being tested by the popularity of e-readers.
He has written novels about football before including his first piece, a thriller entitled 'The Crew.' The Crew held the number one slot on the soccer download chart with both iTunes and Amazon for 15 successive months.
Wings of a Sparrow mixes his love for comedy writing and football together and it is an interesting mix, focusing on the story of a football fan who undergoes a season and fortune of personal discovery.
The main character is Rob Cooper, who is the editor of the football fanzine Wings of a Sparrow.
Dreams can come true
When he receives another letter from pestering solicitors, he suspects that another lawsuit has arrived at his desk, courtesy of either an official who feels harshly treated or a fed up player.
The light-hearted story takes a different direction to this though and Cooper is thrown into a situation where dreams can come true.
Of course, that doesn't mean that it will also remain a dream and sometimes, the best things you wish for can turn into a complete nightmare.
Wings of a Sparrow is sure to be an interesting read for football and sport fans alike, in a period where fans of sporting books are really spoilt for choice.
This is Brimson's first eNovel exclusive and is published by eBookpartnership.com
