Wolves loan troubled winger Pennant

Championship club Wolves have acquired the services of Stoke City winger Jermaine Pennant on a three-month loan deal.
The 29-year-old, who has caused a lot of trouble for his various clubs through off-the-field antics, heads to Molineux after injuries to Razak Boukari and Stephen Hunt.
Bolstering the ranks
Wanderers’ manager Stale Solbakken sees this as an excellent deal to bolster the ranks, after an impressive run of form which has taken Wolves into the top three of the Championship table.
Chief executive Jez Moxey told the club’s official website: “Stale wanted to find a high quality replacement for our injured wingers and we’re very pleased Stoke have agreed for Jermaine Pennant to join us on loan for an initial three month period.
“He is a high quality player and Stale is delighted to have secured his services until at least the New Year.”
Pennant (pictured) has only made two appearances so far this season at the Britannia Stadium and one of those was in the side’s shock Capital One Cup second round home defeat to Swindon in August.
Potters manager Tony Pulis seemed happy to allow Pennant to get some first-team football after he fell down the pecking order at the Premier League side.
Michael Kightly’s arrival in the summer, ironically from Wolves has limited the former Arsenal and Birmingham winger’s opportunities this season.
Questionable judgements
The former England Under-21 international has given a lot of stress to his previous managers after a string of questionable judgements when not playing football.
He was once sent home from a Under-21 training camp for breaking curfew and became the first player in Premier League history to play a match while wearing an electronic tag.
This was after being jailed for 21 days in 2005 after being found guilty of drink driving while banned and having no insurance.
He has also been sent home from training before under the influence of alcohol and avoided another jail term earlier this year after admitting driving home from a nightclub while drunk.
The Nottingham born midfielder failed to make the grade at Arsenal and has graced Watford, Leeds United, Birmingham City, Liverpool, Portsmouth and Real Zaragoza during a colourful career.
He has played 77 times in the top flight for Stoke and will be hoping to focus on his football for once and revive a career at Wolves, which has stalled far too often.
