Puma Race Off: Aguero takes top honours

The PUMA Race Off challenge has finally concluded with Manchester City goal king Sergio Aguero taking on the challenge of driving around the historic Monza circuit in Italy.
Aguero got behind the wheel of a Petronas Mercedes F1 simulator, in an effort to beat the fastest time which had been set by his former club team-mate and Dutch international Nigel De Jong.
Before his performance, Aguero (pictured) said: "I like fast cars and everything related to speed. In reality I don't like to lose in anything, not even a card or this simulator challenge! I am very competitive, I have to win!"
The challenge was launched by Mercedes F1 driver Nico Rosberg. Rosberg, who currently sits seventh in the Formula One drivers championship standings despite retiring early from Sunday's Korean Grand Prix. He has challenged footballers in a fun and intriguing Race Off.
Over the weeks, the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Phil Jones, Bacary Sagna and Michael Carrick have taken on the challenge of getting around Monza in the quickest time to win the challenge.
Rosberg said: "PUMA Race off is a very interesting concept and I really like the idea of merging different sport categories."
Aguero attacks the chicanes
Chinese Grand Prix winner Rosberg set a benchmark for the other competitors to beat, one which never got close. De Jong had done the best so far, edging out Carrick by 0.7 tenths of a second.
It was now time for Aguero to show how fast he really is and win another prize after his Premier League heroics in May.
He showed great control in attacking Monza's tricky chicanes and looked very quick down the long straights the circuit has.
His time of 1.22.58 was the quickest out of all the competitors, trimming nearly a full second off De Jong's mark.
As winner, Aguero now has the opportunity to receive a driving lesson from Rosberg and will then put his skills to the test in a high-performance Mercedes-Benz car around a real racing circuit.
Although computer games and simulations are very different from the real thing, the Argentine showed that he has various skills away from his professional job.
Congratulations to Aguero on coming out on top in a competitive and fun challenge.
