The summer transfer window closed at 11pm on Friday and there was plenty of late activity.
Defending Premier League champions Manchester City signed Brazilian Maicon (pictured) from Inter Milan, Scott Sinclair from Swansea City for £6.2m, defender Matija Nastasic from Fiorentina, Javi Garcia in a £16m deal from Benfica and goalkeeper Richard Wright on a free transfer. Leaving Eastlands are Nigel de Jong to AC Milan for £5m, Stefan Savic as part of the Nastasic deal and Roque Santa Cruz on loan to Malaga.
At Tottenham, French no.1 goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has completed a £8m switch from Lyon and Clint Dempsey has signed too, after Fulham agreed a £6m fee with the North Londoners. Rafael van der Vaart has left Spurs, returning to Hamburg for £9.5m and Danny Rose will spend the season on loan at Sunderland. But Tottenham were unable to complete the signing of their main transfer target, Porto's Joao Moutinho.
Fulham have brought in Dimitar Berbatov for £6m from Manchester United, while Kieran Richardson arrives from Sunderland for £2m and winger Ashkan Dejagah moves from VFL Wolfsburg. Yossi Benayoun returns to West Ham, on a loan deal from Chelsea, whilst QPR completed their busy summer by signing Stephane Mbia from Marseille, with Joey Barton going in the opposite direction on loan.
Stoke City have signed midfielders Charlie Adam and Steven N'Zonzi for a combined total of £8m. Everton have paid FC Copenhagen £5m for Bryan Oviedo and Southampton have broken their club record to sign Gaston Ramirez from Bologna for £12m. Chelsea's Michael Essien will spend the season on loan at Real Madrid, while Aston Villa spent £7m on 21-year-old striker Christian Benteke from KRC Genk.
