As ever, there was plenty of action in the nPower Championship, with the main highlight, being a goal feast in Yorkshire.
Promotion hopefuls Leeds United and Blackburn Rovers shared a 3-3 draw at Elland Road.
Rovers, who gave a debut to new record £8m signing Jordan Rhodes, stormed into a 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Marcus Olsson and Nuno Gomes.
Leeds fought back brilliantly and Luciano Becchio gave Neil Warnock’s side the lead in the 65th minute, after El-Hadji Diouf and Ross McCormack had drawn the sides’ level.
A Ruben Rochina strike in the 84th minute, earnt a deserving point for the visitors, in what was a pulsating and entertaining encounter.
Blackburn closed to within a point of leaders Blackpool, who lost their 100 per cent record in a 1-0 loss at Leicester City.
Ben Marshall’s penalty was the difference at the King Power Stadium, to give Nigel Pearson some breathing space after their League Cup humiliation to Burton Albion last week.
Five star performance from Derby
The performance of the weekend came at Pride Park, where Derby County recorded their first home victory in more than five months. Nigel Clough’s side thrashed a tame Watford side 5-1.
Crystal Palace recorded their first league victory of the season, defeating Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 at Selhurst Park.
Glenn Murray scored both goals for the home side, with his second strike, arriving just seven minutes from full-time.
The victory for Palace ends Wednesday’s impressive run of 19 league games unbeaten.
Peterborough United stay rooted to the bottom of the table, as they went down 1-0 in a scrappy encounter to Birmingham City.
Darren Ferguson’s side have now lost their first four league games, their worst start to a league season in 40 years.
Mackail-Smith scores a brilliant double
Craig Mackail-Smith scored a brilliant double, as Brighton vaulted into the top four, following a 3-1 away triumph at Burnley.
Gordon Greer scored at both ends but the defeat leaves the Clarets in the bottom three, having lost their last three matches.
Elsewhere, Peter Whittingham hit an impressive hat-trick, as Cardiff came from behind to beat Wolves 3-1.
Nottingham Forest moved into the top three, after seeing off Charlton 2-1 at the City Ground and Millwall recorded their first home win of the season, with an Andy Keogh double, helping them to a 3-1 success over Middlesbrough.
