Championship round-up: Posh remain pointless

Six games into the Championship season and the search goes on for Peterborough United’s first point of the campaign.
Darren Ferguson’s side lost again on Tuesday night, going down 2-1 at home to Bristol City, as Posh continued their worst ever start to a league season.
Sam Baldock (pictured) scored a quickfire double in the second half for the Robins, as they recovered from their 3-5 home defeat to Blackburn at the weekend.
Ferguson has received public backing from his manager but Paul Jewell hasn’t and the Ipswich manager must surely be on seriously borrowed time.
The Tractor Boys slipped to second from bottom after a 2-0 home loss to Wolves on Wednesday evening.
An own goal from Tommy Smith and an effort from Mali international Tongo Doumbia helped Wolves to back-to-back victories and their first triumph away from Molineux since February.
Tough times for Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday
Joining Ipswich and Peterborough in the bottom three are Charlton Athletic.
Chris Powell’s side slipped to a 3-2 away defeat at Derby.
Despite trailing 3-0 on the hour mark, the Addicks showed some resolve with strikes in the last 20 minutes from Danny Green and Yann Kermorgant.
However, the Rams were in control and it means Charlton have made their worst start to a league campaign since relegation from the Premier League in 2007.
Another team on the slide is Sheffield Wednesday as they suffered a third consecutive defeat.
Wednesday lost a bad-tempered Yorkshire derby at home to Huddersfield with two players sent off.
Joel Lynch of Huddersfield and Joe Mattock from the home side were both dismissed as Huddersfield won 3-1, courtesy of goals from Adam Clayton, Oliver Norwood and Lee Novak.
Blackburn continue at the top
At the right end of the table, Blackburn continue to set the pace after coming from behind to beat Barnsley 2-1 at Ewood Park.
Veteran Nuno Gomes scored the winner with five minutes remaining, his fourth goal in as many games.
Four teams follow Steve Kean’s side in the table, just a point behind.
Blackpool thrashed Middlesbrough 4-1 while Hull recorded an excellent 3-2 away victory at Leeds United.
Brighton made it four wins in a row as a Craig Mackail-Smith penalty defeated Watford at Vicarage Road.
Cardiff City is the fourth team with 13 points after chalking up an impressive 2-0 win at the New Den.
Peter Whittingham and Craig Noone got the goals in three second half minutes, to leave Millwall hovering just outside the drop zone.
