League One round-up: Tranmere charge to the top

Tranmere Rovers are the surprise leaders in nPower League One after two games.
Manager Ronnie Moore picked out Andy Robinson’s performance, after he scored a marvellous hat-trick, as his side crushed Carlisle United 3-0 at Brunton Park.
Moore told BBC Radio Merseyside: “It’s hard to pick out individuals but Andy Robinson was just unbelievable.
“For the third one (goal), I was screaming for him not to hit it. It was miles out but it’s flown in.”
Doncaster & Notts County have maximum points
Doncaster Rovers are only behind Tranmere on goal difference, after they came from behind to beat Bury 2-1.
Bury captain Steven Schumacher was dismissed for two bookable offences and they were punished for this indiscipline by a winner from Chris Brown (pictured) with six minutes to go.
Hartlepool’s sorry start continued, as they struggle to recover from their 5-0 thrashing by Crewe in the Capital One Cup first round.
Still chasing their first goal of the campaign, there was no joy at Meadow Lane as they lost 2-0 to Notts County, who have also made a maximum points beginning.
Francois Zoko and Neal Bishop got the goals for the home side.
Bookies favourites for promotion are Sheffield United but they needed an 84th minute equaliser from Nick Blackman to rescue a 1-1 draw at Coventry City.
Stephen Elliott scored the opener for the Sky Blues, his first since arriving at the City of Coventry Stadium in the summer.
Plenty of spirit at Pompey
Andy Thorn’s recently relegated side have drawn their first two games at this level and so have penniless Portsmouth.
Pompey came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at Colchester United with Jordan Obita coming off the bench to snatch a point in the last six minutes.
Short of finances they might be but no-one can fault the spirit of Michael Appleton’s emergency squad.
Alan Smith saw red for a horrible tackle but Milton Keynes Dons recovered from this setback to grab a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
Daniel Powell cancelled out Lewis Grabban’s 17th minute opener for the Cherries.
Swindon won a battle of the newly promoted sides, cruising past Crawley Town 3-0, whilst two teams remain pointless so far.
Lucas Akins first half goal at Brisbane Road, earnt Stevenage a 1-0 win in a dreadful match at Leyton Orient.
Joining Orient at the foot of the table is Scunthorpe, who lost 2-1 at home to Crewe Alexandra.
