Collins returns to West Ham

Sam Allardyce has made his seventh summer signing, as central defender James Collins returns to West Ham United.
The 28-year-old has moved to Upton Park from Aston Villa for an estimated fee of £2.5m.
The Welshman has had a spell with the Hammers before, leaving for Villa in September 2009.
Collins has made way for Dutchman Ron Vlaar, who has agreed terms and is set to move for £3.2m from Feyenoord.
Pleased to be back
Collins would have been out of contract with the Birmingham club at the end of the 2012-13 campaign, so new Villa boss Paul Lambert decided to cash in on his services. He has moved back to the Boleyn Ground on a four-year deal.
After completing the deal, Collins told West Ham United TV: “It’s great to be back. Having been here before and coming back and seeing some of the same old faces is great.
“I can’t wait to get cracking and show the fans that I am a better player now and can put in the performances on the pitch.”
The defender, who has won 39 caps for Wales, will compete with Winston Reid and James Tomkins for a regular starting 11 place in East London.
Collins joins Modibo Maiga, Jussi Jaaskelainen, George McCartney, Raphael Spiegel, Mohamed Diame and Stephen Henderson in the list of the club’s summer acquisitions.
